The ongoing modern C-drama Best Choice Ever released episode 19 on April 17, 2024. It features Xu Kai and Yang Zi in the lead roles. The episode focuses on the brewing misunderstanding between Cheng Huan (Yang Zi), her brother, and their mother. Mrs. Liu (He Sai Fei) forces Zao to apologize to his uncle and aunt. Mai Cheng Zao (Gala Zhang) is upset with his mother as he feels that she subconsciously always thinks that he is at fault. Meanwhile, Cheng Huan arrives at the place. She takes her brother’s side and confronts her mother.
Mrs. Liu continues to put pressure on Zao, saying that if he doesn’t apologize, everybody will think that she has not raised him well. When this tactic doesn’t work, she decides to apologize to them on his behalf. Zao finally loses his composure. He asks his mother if she knows how much he has suffered over the years. He reminds her of how his relatives bullied him after his grandmother passed away. Zao thinks that he is not important to his mother as she keeps pushing him away. In the end, he decides to leave the house.
Cheng Huan finally opens up. She confronts her cousin, Deng Jie, for stealing money and blaming it on Zao. She says that the only reason Zao took the blame, despite being innocent, is because he is sensible and doesn’t want to cause his parents any trouble. Mrs. Liu finally starts to see who is really at fault.
Best Choice Ever ep 27: Xu Kai has an insightful conversation with Yang Zi’s mother
Cheng Huan’s uncle screams at Cheng Huan and calls her mentally disturbed for being unmarried at the age of 30. Mrs. Liu tells him that she won’t allow him to take his anger out on her children. The situation only worsens as Cheng Huan’s uncle calls her mother ungrateful for leaving her child with them.
Meanwhile, Zhi Ming comes inside the house and asks them to leave. When they refuse, he threatens to take legal action against them for intruding as the legal owner of the house. Cheng Huan thanked him for helping her out. She recognizes that her mother values her pride the most and vows to fix the relationship between her mother and aunt.
Zhi Ming apologizes to Mrs. Liu for interfering in their private matters. Mrs. Liu feels that he understands her better than her own children. Zhi Ming asks her not to overthink and says that things will get better in no time. He also shares with her the struggles Cheng Huan is facing at work. Mrs. Liu feels guilty for burdening Cheng Huan when she is already facing hardships.
In episode 27 of Best Choice Ever, Cheng Huan and her brother are still angry at their mother and do not return home the next day. Zhi Ming calms her down. Mrs. Liu decides to cook some dishes for Cheng Huan and then asks her to persuade Zao. Meanwhile, Cheng Huan’s implementation of new work policies faces objections from the hotel staff members.
