Tencent Video’s original drama Frozen Surface starring popular actors like Chen Jianbin, Hu Jun, Deng Jiajia has released its 7th episode. The episode came out on January 14, 2024. The original broadcaster of Frozen Surface is Tencent Video. The thriller is growing popular among Chinese drama fans. The story follows Guan Yu (Chen Jianbin), the respected captain of Lanhe Criminal Police as he attempts to solve a series of murders.
In previous episodes of Frozen Surface, viewers met Yang Si, the prime suspect in the murder of Mr. Hongqiao and his wife. Mr. Hongqiao was a prominent businessman in Lanhe. Initially, Yang Si denies all charges but then he voluntarily confesses to his crimes. As the police dig deeper into the case, they unveil many secrets and many more suspects.
As they investigate further, Guan Yu finds out that Yang Si has been lying about his true identity. To investigate, Guan Yu decides to visit Yang Si’s old village. Upon arriving, they learn that Yang’s ill mother has been living there all alone. Yang hasn’t contacted her in these years. From the house, they are able to retrieve an old photograph of Yang Si. They also learn his original name, Yinzhen.
On the other hand, Zhong Yi, a sharp detective goes to investigate Wang Shen. Wang is a close companion of Feng Gen, Mr. Hongqiao’s nephew. Feng is another prime suspect. When Zhong receives a tip that Wang Shen is hiding in a junkyard, he doesn’t waste a second and rushes to the spot alone.

Zhong chases Wang Shen throughout the junkyard and the two engage in a scuffle. Wang Shen then takes out a pocket knife to scare Zhong but ends up unintentionally stabbing him. Scared he flees from the spot. Zhong lays there bleeding and eventually passes away.
Zhong Yi was a young detective who was loved by everyone at the force for his composed nature. Guan Yu and his team are devastated when they learn about his death. The investigation team arrives at the murder spot. In order to single out suspects, the forensics compare the bruise with other victims of the case. Guan Yu can also sense that some of his fellow detectives resent him for allowing Zhong Yi to go to the junkyard alone.
The police mourns Zhong Yi’s death and vows to punish the suspect. The detectives question Feng Gen’s mother about his relation with the retrieved firearms but fail to gather any useful information from the cunning woman.
On the other hand, Guan Yu starts to look around to find more information on Yang Si’s identity. He arrives at an old tailor shop. It turns out that Guan Yu already knew the owner. He gets a flashback from 1988 when he visited the shop as a young cop. He was in love with the sister of the man who ran the shop. In the meantime, Guan receives a call from the police station. He finally learns about Yang’s true identity. The newfound information shocks him.
