Fruits Basket -prelude- Trailer Looks Back on Series Highlights

A new trailer for the highly anticipated upcoming film Fruits Basket -prelude- has been released, showcasing some of the most tender and memorable moments from the series.

The new trailer highlights these memorable moments alongside a first look at the theme song to the film, “Niji to Kite” (“Rainbow and Kite”), by Ohashi Trio. You can check out the newest trailer for Fruits Basket -prelude- below:

Fruits Basket -prelude- will include a variety of new scenes, including adapting the Kyо̄ko to Katsuya no Monogatari anime that dives into the backstory of Tohru’s parents, Kyо̄ko and Katsuya. At the same time, Fruits Basket -prelude- will also include brands new scenes written specifically for the film, by the series creator Natsuki Takaya.

The film opens in theaters on February 18 in Japan, which is the same day the Blu-ray disc will release. At the moment, there’s no word on when Fruits Basket -prelude- will come west, or if it will receive an English dub.

The 2019-2021 series of Fruits Basket can be streamed in its entirety on both Funimation and Crunchyroll. The original manga first debuted in 1998, with the first anime adaption airing back in 2001. Fruits Basket tells the story of a young girl named Tohru, who ends up meeting the various boys of the Soma clan, but learns that they’re each possessed by an animal of the Chinese Zodiac.
