Kaiju No. 8 Unveils Premiere Date in an Action-Loaded New Trailer

The television adaptation of Kaiju No. 8 is based on Naoya Matsumoto’s manga of the same name. The anime recently unveiled a new promotional trailer, which reveals an opening song, “Abyss” by YUNGBLUD, and an ending song, “Nobody” by OneRepublic. Moreover, the trailer reveals that the anime is set to premiere on Saturday, April 13, 2024

Kaiju No. 8: Everything we know about the anime

While TV Tokyo will broadcast the anime in Japan, Crunchyroll holds its streaming license. Describing the anime, the streaming platform writes, “In a world plagued by threatening creatures known as Kaiju, Kafka Hibino aspired to enlist in the Japan Defense Force to defeat them. “Let’s wipe out the Kaiju together.”Kafka pledged to his childhood friend, Mina Ashiro. Over time, life circumstances forced them to go their separate ways and caused him to abandon his lifelong ambition.”

Crunchyroll continues, “He found himself employed by Monster Sweeper, Inc., a professional cleaning company that specializes in cleaning up the aftermath of Kaiju battles. Meanwhile, Mina Ashiro is now the Captain of the Defense Force’s 3rd Division. As it stands, he is currently unworthy of fighting Kaiju alongside her. At work, Kafka crosses paths with the highly motivated Reno Ichikawa. Reno’s undying determination to join the Defense Force leaves no room for failure. His perseverance reawakens Kafka’s ambition of standing next to Mina as they protect humanity from Kaiju together. A dream frozen by time, thawed by a burning promise.”

Shigeyuki Miya is directing the anime at Production I.G, while the stellar cast includes the following:

  • Wataru Katō will play Reno Ichikawa
  • Asami Seto will play Kikoru Shinomiya
  • Kengo Kawanishi will play Soshiro Hoshina
  • Yūki Shin will play Iharu Furuhashi
  • Keisuke Kōmoto will play Haruichi Izumo
  • Shunsuke Takeuchi will play Aoi Kaguragi
  • Sayaka Senbongi will play Konomi Okonogi

After the manga’s grand success, fans naturally look forward to the anime adaptation, hoping for the television series to do justice to the manga.
