Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War Episode 1 Recap

The Soul Society Department of Research and Development continues to monitor the disappearing Hollows. Meanwhile, Squad 13 officers, Shino and Ryunosuke, begin their patrol around Karakura. Suddenly, a Hollow appears, and Ryunosuke runs away and looks for Shino. However, a Hollow has already injured her. Another one attacks Ryunosuke. However, before it can kill him, Orihime, Sado, Uryu, and Ichigo show up to defeat the Hollows.

Two days later, Ryunosuke and Shino are awake. Suddenly, a man named Ebern appears. Ichigo decides to take care of him. Elsewhere, some Madarame and Ayasegawa from Squad 11 investigate Rukon District. After seeing an area of footprints, Ayasegawa concludes the residents took their own people. Meanwhile, a group in white visits Genryusai’s office. They claim that they have arrived to declare war, stating that the Soul Society will be eliminated by the Wandenreich five days from now. After they leave, Sasakibe tells Genryusai that the enemy can take their Bankai.

While Ebern and Ichigo are fighting, Ichigo notices that Ebern is taunting him. After Ichigo unleashes Bankai, Ebern uses a mysterious device on him. Ichigo manages to cancel it out, and Ebern is annoyed since Ichigo’s Bankai didn’t disappear. Before Ichigo could interrogate him further, Ebern escapes.
