Gamma 1 Voice Actor Says Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero Will Exceed Expectations

Kamiya, who also worked on Dragon Ball GT in 1996 as Poperu and Ronge, is no stranger to the world of Dragon Ball. This time, he will be taking on a much bigger role by playing the “calm and collected” Gamma 1, a member of the Red Ribbon Army who will serve as one of the antagonists in the new film alongside Gamma 2, who’s voiced by Mamoru Miyano.

“I’m a big fan of Mamo-chan (Mamoru Miyano), so I was ecstatic! I thought, ‘With me as Gamma 1 and Mamo-chan as Gamma 2, we’ll be the ultimate combo!’,” said Kamiya about his voice acting partner. “Not to mention, Miyu Irino is voicing their creator, Dr. Hedo. I’ve had the chance to work together with Mamo-chan and Miyu on many different projects, so we get along quite well.”

As far as the upcoming movie, Kamiya believes that the film will not only live up to the hype, but will go above and beyond the expectations that some fans have.

“I’m sure that all the Dragon Ball fans reading this article are looking forward to the movie even more than I am, so there’s not much I can say that they don’t already know,” Kamiya said. “I do, however, believe that this film will exceed all of your expectations, so please look forward to the release in theaters!”

Originally set to premiere earlier in the year, Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero was delayed following a hack that hit Toei Animation in March, forcing a variety of delays upon different series and other projects. Earlier this month, Crunchyroll confirmed that the film would be getting a global theatrical release in both subbed and dubbed formats, marking the first time that Crunchyroll would be globally distributing a theatrical release of a film.
