Jude Law Drops Hint on Sherlock Holmes 3

Jude Law (the upcoming Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald) sat down with Entertainment Weekly to discuss his take on Harry Potter favorite Albus Dumbledore. While talking about playing the popular wizard, Law also dropped a few hints on the upcoming Sherlock Holmes 3.

When asked what the story of Sherlock Holmes is about, Law stated, “We hope to propel the story forward. As always, the essence of the story is their codependency. We’re going to examine — since it’s been several years since we’ve seen them — we’re going to play up the fact that they haven’t seen each other for a long time either.”

Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law will return as Sherlock Holmes and John Watson, respectively. While Guy Ritchie directed the first two films, a director for the third film has not yet been announced. Chris Brancato wrote the script for Sherlock Holmes 3.

The first film was released in 2009 and earned $524 million worldwide on a $90 million budget, while Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows followed in 2011 and grossed $545 million globally.

Susan Downey, Joel Silver and Lionel Wigram are producing the new film. The new Sherlock Holmes film is set for a December 25, 2020 release date.
