CBS Takes Beverly Hills Cop TV Series

Rumored for some time, a “Beverly Hills Cop” television series appears to be officially moving forward as Deadline reports that CBS has committed to producing a pilot. As reported last week, the show will arrive from Sony Pictures Television, “The Shield” creator Shawn Ryan and executive producer Eddie Murphy.

Murphy is also planning to reprise his role as Axel Foley in a guest-star capacity with the focus of the series being the character’s police officer son.

“Axel is the chief of police now in Detroit,” Murphy told Rolling Stone last October. “I’d do the pilot, show up here and there.”

Ryan will write the pilot, planned as an hourlong procedural, blending action and comedy.
