After topping the box office the last three weekends, The Help slipped to second place but still added $8.7 million. The hit adaptation, produced for just $25 million, has collected an impressive $137.1 million after five weeks.

While it opened in just 1,869 theaters, Lionsgate’s new fight drama Warrior still struggled, debuting with only $5.6 million and averaging $3,000 per site. Directed by Gavin O’Connor and starring Joel Edgerton, Tom Hardy, Jennifer Morrison and Nick Nolte, the movie did carry a budget of just $25 million which should help it in the long run.

Dropping down two spots to fourth, Focus Features’ The Debt brought in $4.9 million to take its two-week total to $22 million. The thriller cost $20 million to make.

TriStar Pictures’ Colombiana rounded out the top five at the domestic box office with $4 million. The $40 million action film has earned $29.8 million in three weeks.

20th Century Fox hit Rise of the Planet of the Apes also added another $3.9 million domestically in sixth place its sixth weekend to push its total to $167.8 million. Then there were the two bombs – big bombs. Sony’s Bucky Larson: Born to be a Star earned just $1.5 million from 1,500 theaters, an abysmal average of $967 per theater. Even worse, horror film Creature was able to pull in only $331,000 from 1,507 theaters – that’s an average of $220 per theater, easily one of the worst debuts of all time.

Sony’s The Smurfs topped the international box office for the fifth straight week. The animated film grossed another $14.9 million overseas and has collected $321 million at the foreign box office. Made for $110 million and with a sequel already in the cards, the big screen adaptation has now earned $457.3 million worldwide.
