It was an adaptation of Stephen King’s Skeleton Crew tale called Gramma. And now, Blumhouse Productions (Paranormal Activity, Sinister) and Universal are turning that short story into a feature film entitled Mercy.
Variety reports Peter Cornwell (The Haunting in Connecticut) is going to direct.
Matt Greenberg penned the script; he has adapted King before, you might recognize his name from 1408.
According to the trade paper, the “story follows two young boys who go with their single mother (Frances O’Connor) to take care of their elderly, senile grandmother named Mercy, only to discover that she’s a witch who made an evil pact with a dark force many years before.
