Exclusive Shock Video: Brad Anderson on Vanishing on 7th Street

Apocalyptic horror from the man behind Session 9

At one point or another, everyone has imagined what it might be like to be the only person left in a big city devoid of people, and in Brad Anderson’s apocalyptic thriller Vanishing on 7th Street, a group of survivors played by Hayden Christensen, John Leguizamo and Thandie Newton find out exactly what that would be like as millions of people mysteriously vanish into a darkness that enfolds the entire city.

Vanishing on 7th Street delves further into the world of the supernatural than Anderson’s previous movies Session 9 and The Machinist as he creates an apocalyptic scenario in which only the light can keep the survivors alive as shadowy creatures pull the living into their world leaving only their clothes.

ShockTillYouDrop.com sat down with the filmmaker in New York City last week for the following exclusive video interview, in which we discussed:

* How he found the script and why he wanted to make the movie

* Why he decided not to explain what exactly was happening

* How he created the scale of the film and the challenges of creating an abandoned city

* Shooting in Detroit

* How he prepared for the shadow effects that needed to be added in post

*We discuss some of his upcoming projects, which you can also read here

and More!

Vanishing on 7th Street opens in New York on February 18 and other cities in the weeks to come. (It’s also currently available on Movies on Demand, iTunes, Netflix and other outlets if you can’t wait that long.)
