Is Daniel Stamm Directing Twelve Strangers?

The second movie in the proposed “Night Chronicles”

Although Daniel Stamm’s The Last Exorcism had to settle for second place this past weekend, the low-budget horror movie made $20 million its opening weekend, which means it’s definitely a hit/ In England to promote the movie at the annual FrightFest, Stamm spoke with the HeyUGuys blog and other journalists, and when asked about his next project, he told them:

“My next project is a supernatural thriller and it’s not going to be shot in documentary style. One of my favourite filmmakers in the world, whose (sic) a legend, is producing it. (It’s) an idea of his that another writer is writing and I’m going to direct. It has a twist in the ending, without giving away who it is.”

That sounds a lot to them (and us) like he’s talking about M. Night Shyamalan and the concept behind his “Night Chronicles”, the first of them being Devil, directed by the Dowdle Brothers, which comes out on September 17.

As reported on June 23, the second movie in the series is Twelve Strangers, penned by Chris Sparling of the upcoming Buried, and it “concerns a jury deliberating on a case that involves the supernatural.”

Although Stamm wouldn’t confirm that this is his next project, when a few names of filmmakers were thrown out, Shyamalan’s name was among them, and Twelve Strangers is in fact his idea but being written by another writer.
