Aja Doesn’t Start Piranha Until ’09

Spring schedule for summer movie

The principal photography start date on Alex Aja’s Piranha 3-D has been pushed back to March/April of 2009. That’s a big change from the fall start Aja has talked about in the past.

Sources tell us the reason for the delay was the size of the project and the prep work needed to execute Aja’s 3-D visuals. “There just wasn’t enough time for pre-production to get it done in time,” says one insider. “It’s all about pre-production and trying to make it the best it can be.”

Anyone can respect that. However, it does call into question whether Piranha 3-D will make its July 24th release date. But one only needs to see who is distributing – in this case Dimension Films – to know that anything goes.
