The Rock’s ‘Rampage’ and ‘Baywatch’ Movies Find Directors

Dwayne Johnson is constantly active on Instagram, most recently posting videos of himself on the set of his upcoming film Central Intelligence as well as to confirm reports of a couple new directors he’ll be working with. Well, one new director as one of the upcoming films will reteam him with his Journey 2: The Mysterious Island and, most recently, San Andreas helmer Brad Peyton.

Peyton will direct the video game adaptation Rampage, which Johnson describes on his Instagram feed saying:

RAMPAGE is our childhood arcade classic where the storyline revolves around a gigantic King Kong, gigantic Godzilla and a gigantic Werewolf wreaking havoc and destruction across North America. We had to find the one director who I knew would bring that epic vision to life. Our San Andreas director and handsome son of a bitch Brad Peyton. We’re fired up for this big one.

Ryan Engle (Non-Stop) wrote the screenplay and apparently the movie will feature the beasts attempting to destroy major cities across North America with Johnson attempting to stop them. My guess is he’ll have to take out some evil mastermind controlling the beasts, but that’s just a guess.

Secondly, it seems the long-gestating “Baywatch” adaptation is finally getting off the ground with Johnson starring and Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses) directing. THR brings the news saying the hope is to bring the story to the big screen with a similar tone to that of the recent 21 Jump Street movies. Rinse and repeat right? Rinse… and repeat.

Johnson is one of the busiest men in Hollywood, not only does he have “Ballers” on HBO (that show is awful by the way), but he’s supplying his voice for Disney’s Moana, starring in Fast and Furious 8 for Universal and Shazam! for DC and Warner Bros., but there is expectation for a Journey 3 as well.
