We’re still over half a year away from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which is expected to kickstart the larger DC universe, but people are already looking towards 2017’s The Justice League Part One and, according to Entertainment Weekly‘s Comic-Con special (via Cosmic Book Movies), we are one step closer to the superhero team-up. Word is screenwriter Chris Terrio (Argo) has finished the first draft of the script.
In the magazine, while mentioning the first draft is completed, there is a description of the writing process that happened with Batman v Superman and Justice League director Zack Snyder and Terrio.
To craft the costumed-hero mash-up, Snyder and Chris Terrio — the Argo screenwriter who was brought on to Batman v Superman for a rewrite and who has since finished the Justice League script — locked themselves in a room with an enormous supply of Diet Coke and plotted out their epic saga visually, like a giant cave painting. “Chris would talk and I would draw and it was basically this weird mural of the movies with no words,” says Snyder.
Terrio was brought onboard these films when Ben Affleck signed as Batman. He and Affleck teamed up on the Academy Award-winning film Argo, and so it was no surprise when Terrio came aboard to help rewrite Batman v Superman and script Justice League.
Not much is known yet about what the storyline will be for the all star team-up. However, rumors are swirling that we can expect more information and potentially see the full cast announcement this weekend at San Diego Comic-Con, which already includes Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, and Ezra Miller as the Flash.
Justice League Part 1 is scheduled to hit theaters November 17, 2017.
