Paramount Pictures has unleashed a motherload of new pictures from the upcoming Terminator Genisys, which releases in theaters next Wednesday, July 1, and features the return of Arnold Schwarzenegger, officially back to the franchise after his CG alter ego terrorized Terminator Salvation as much as Terminator Salvation terrorized those of us that actually saw it.
This fifth installment in the franchise (though it appears to be ignoring the fact Terminator 3 and Salvation even exist) explores the idea of a fractured timeline after John Connor (Jason Clarke), leader of the human resistance, sends Sgt. Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) back to 1984 to protect Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke). Now, Reese finds himself in a new and unfamiliar version of the past, where he is faced with unlikely allies, including the Guardian (Arnold Schwarzenegger), dangerous new enemies, and an unexpected new mission: To reset the future…
The film is directed by Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World) and along with those already mentioned, the film co-stars Byung-hun Lee, Dayo Okeniyi, Matt Smith and J.K. Simmons, all of which can be seen in the new pictures just released over the following several pages.
