I prefer movie posters that are not just pictures of the actors. A poster never makes me want to see a movie, but a well designed poster may make me want to purchase a print of it. I like a bit of artistic ambition in them. The new poster for the Brian Wilson biopic Love & Mercy decides to embrace the 1960s to make a poster that certainly pops. I probably won’t buy a print, but at least somebody put some effort into the poster, which you can check out below.
The poster does make it seem like the whole movie takes place in the ’60s, which it doesn’t. Paul Dano and John Cusack split the duties of playing the Beach Boys legend in two different areas of his life. I saw the film at SXSW this year, and greatly enjoyed it. So, more importantly than admiring the poster, go see the movie when it comes out June 5, 2015.

The life of reclusive Beach Boys songwriter and musician Brian Wilson (Dano and Cusack), from his successes with highly-influential orchestral pop albums to his nervous breakdown and subsequent encounter with controversial therapist Dr. Eugene Landy (Paul Giamatti). Also starring Elizabeth Banks.
