Nightcrawler Cast in ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’, Plus Concept Art and Colossus to be Recast in ‘Deadpool’

Bryan Singer has announced on his Instagram account that Kodi Smit-McPhee (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) has joined the cast of X-Men: Apocalypse and will play a young Nightcrawler, the character made popular in the franchise’s second feature, X2: X-Men United as played by Alan Cumming, particularly in that fantastic opening sequence.

Meanwhile, in somewhat similar X-Men related news, Daniel Cudmore who played the mutant Colossus in X2, X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men: First Class tweeted out that he will not be playing the character in the new Deadpool movie. It was made known recently that the Colossus character will be featured in the film, but as far as who will replace Cudmore there are no details available just yet, or if the character will appear in Apocalypse… I have to assume they’ll want to keep these worlds tied together… right? Then again, this new Deadpool has nothing to do with X-Men Origins: Wolverine, so, maybe not.

Finally, Singer kept busy on Instagram when he posted the following piece of production art with the note, “Some production art. #XmenApocalypse #GrantMajor I was a little busy but will continue to snap more.” Hopefully some of you X-Men aficionados can help explain just what this might be.
