Empire has revealed six new pictures from Christopher Nolan‘s Interstellar as part of their new issue, which features two separate Interstellar covers and a spread on the new movie.
Set for release on November 7, Interstellar chronicles the adventures of a group of explorers who make use of a newly discovered wormhole to surpass the limitations on human space travel and conquer the vast distances involved in an interstellar voyage. Leading said group is Matthew McConaughey and he seems rather confident in the film’s quality telling Empire, “This is the grandest adventure I think any of us will ever see on film… This is the biggest film I’ve ever been a part of. This is one of the biggest films anyone’s ever been a part of.”
That’s high praise and a very high bar to set for a film that hasn’t yet been seen by anyone.
Nolan compares the film to his blockbuster success, Inception, saying, “It’s almost a mirror image of Inception. It expands out in the way Inception contracts inwards.”
“It’s a very classically constructed movie,” Nolan continues, “but the freshness of the narrative elements really enhance it. I liken it to the blockbusters I grew up with as a kid, family films in the best sense: edgy, incisive, challenging.”
Anne Hathaway, working with Nolan again after The Dark Knight Rises, is equally excited saying, “I am so excited for the world to receive this film, because there’s going to be a new conversation I believe will happen because of it… It’s not a dry, science-based film. It has a pulse. It’s got blood in its veins.”
I hope the film can live up to these lofty projections because we are in desperate need of something to talk about and ponder as this year has offered very little to reflect on after we have all left the theater.
Below are the rest of the new pictures and covers.
