The first Planes film wasn’t any good and Disney is already prepared to deliver the sequel Planes: Fire & Rescue only a year later and what’s most interesting is there doesn’t seem to be any thought of continuation, but merely taking the story in a whole new direction.
This time around the crop-dusting racer Dusty (voice of Cook) learns he’s S.O.L. and can no longer race, no worries, he’s just going to join a group of firefighting aircraft devoted to protecting historic Piston Peak National Park from wildfire. Um, okay.
At this point I can only assume Planes 3 will find Dusty caught in a time loop and he’ll have to fight in World War I against the Red Baron. Could be more interesting than this sounds.
