So I go from a family emergency yesterday morning to becoming sick myself — fever, chills, etc. — later in the day. I did go to Jersey Boys last night, all two hours and 14 minutes of it, shivering in my seat as Clint Eastwood…

…went through the entirety of the Four Seasons’ catalog at a snail’s pace. Today I’m still feeling like shit. Not nearly as bad as I was last night, but I think the smart thing to do is to skip Think Like a Man Too and get some extra Zs and, hopefully, kick this thing sooner rather than later.
Now, with the “pity me” portion of this entry out of the way, I came across the following video today and found it fascinating as it takes speeches and lectures and edits them into a nearly 15 minute short film as a form of inspiration to live your life tot he fullest.
It takes cues from films such as Fight Club, The Office, The Beach and The Matrix combined with wonderful elements of great photography and music from Starcadian, M83 and Hans Zimmer.
It’s a video meant for a certain audience more than another, I’d say, but it should be able to inspire just about anyone to seek out what you truly love in life and do that. We all have obligations, chief among them being family, but there must also be room for our own happiness.
I have personally discussed similar things with friends, but it’s always difficult because I’ve found what I love, I love movies and I just sat down one day and started writing about them and worked hard and four years later I had a full-time job. It wasn’t easy and my job is like any job, with ups and downs, such as yesterday where being away from work for five hours meant terrible traffic statistics, which cuts into the bottom line and so on and so on. But I fight every day to keep this thing going and I fight to find more for my readers to enjoy. In fact, it’s you, the one reading this now that directly affects that fight, you have made a contribution to be able to read this sentence, which just goes to show we can’t do it alone.
Give the video a watch, I think you’ll enjoy it.
