I might end up seeing Neighbors tomorrow night if I decide to take a bit of a longer drive up north and, just as I mentioned with Jon Favreau‘s Chef yesterday, this one also premiered at the SXSW Film Festival and just like Chef it has a 100% on RottenTomatoes after the first 11 reviews have been counted. Oh, and just like Chef we can’t always trust these reviews coming from SXSW because they always seem to be inflated due to the attendance of the film’s stars and the hype surrounding their first screenings. Yet, the RT blurbs sound like something more than just a soft pass for a mediocre comedy, they seem to have legitimately loved it.
Starring Seth Rogen, Zac Efron and Rose Byrne (who seems to be getting a lot of love for her potty mouth in this one), Neighbors centers on a young couple suffering from arrested development who are forced to live next to a fraternity house after the birth of their newborn baby. Nick Stoller (Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Get Him to the Greek) directs, which is another good sign.
Neighbors hits theaters on May 9, which is also another good sign given they are screening the film so early. Check out the latest red band trailer below and let me know what you think.
