Neill Blomkamp’s ‘Elysium’ Follow-Up, ‘Chappie’, Set for March 2015 Release

Columbia Pictures has officially set a March 27, 2015 release date for writer/director Neill Blomkamp‘s Chappie a sci-fi comedy featuring the voices of Sharlto Copley (Elysium, District 9) and Die Antwoord members Ninja and Yolandi Visser (aka Watkin Tudor Jones and Anri Du Toit).

The story revolves around a robot (Copley) imbued with artificial intelligence who is stolen by two local gangsters (Visser and Visser) who want to use him for their own nefarious purposes. Blomkamp wrote the script with Terri Tatchell.

If the name Yolandi Visser sounds at all familiar you may remember her as one of the candidates to play Lisbeth Salander in David Fincher‘s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. She is also referred to as Yo-Landi Vi$$er and was in our 2010 report.

Perhaps the best part of this report is that Blomkamp didn’t write the script on his own, but the idea of another story about a robot doesn’t really get me too excited. You?
