It’s only appropriate the first trailer for Rio 2 arrive courtesy of Brazil as Blue Sky and Fox once again return to the life of Blu (voiced by Jesse Eisenberg) and his now-companion Jewel (voiced by Anne Hathaway) in Rio de Janiero.
The teaser is really nothing more than an announcement for the film, which won’t hit theaters until April 11, 2014, but it does let you know Blu and Jewel have now had kids of their own and a common villain will make an appearance.
As for the story, once Jewel decides the kids need to learn to live like real birds, she insists the family leave their domesticated lives and venture into the Amazon. As Blu tries to fit in with his new neighbors, he worries he may lose Jewel and the kids to the call of the wild.
Essentially, they’ve found a way to replicate the events of the first film, which I wasn’t a huge fan of.
Along with Eisenberg and Hathaway, the film co-stars Leslie Mann, Tracy Morgan, Jemaine Clement, will.i.am, George Lopez, Rodrigo Santoro and Jamie Foxx along with new cast members including Andy Garcia, Bruno Mars, Kristin Chenoweth, Rita Moreno, Amandla Stenberg, Pierce Gagnon and Natalie Morales.
