Finish Him! First Trailer for Keanu Reeves’ Directorial Debut ‘Man of Tai Chi’

Keanu Reeves is making his directorial debut on Man of Tai Chi, but it’s quite clear the focus of the film is hardly the story, but more the camerawork and fight choreography from Woo-ping Yuen who was responsible for films such as Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, The Matrix trilogy, the Kill Bill films and Kar Wai Wong‘s upcoming Grandmasters to name a few.

Today the first trailer for the film has been released and it’s, quite frankly, not very good at all. Reeves apparently stars in the film as some kind of fight promoter or something while Tiger Hu Chen and Iko Uwais The Raid) take on more crucial roles in the film. What exactly I’m not sure.

I have two videos below, the first is a promotion feature that was released almost a year ago highlighting the camera rig that was used to capture the fight footage. The rig is a motion controlled device referred to as Bot & Dolly that has a goal of capturing action that many films have relied on using CGI up until now.

The second video is the just released first trailer for the film that essentially features a bunch of quick cuts from the film and Reeves essentially playing the guy in the Mortal Kombat games that says, “Fight!” Check it out for yourself below.
