Universal has debuted a brand new trailer for the Peter Berg-directed alien invasion feature based on the Hasbro board game Battleship and along with it has sent over a new poster and a batch of new images, but the clear highlight of this trailer comes at the 26-second mark when the above declaration is made… I think, “From Hasbro, the company that brought you Transformers,” pretty much says all we need to know about this film, but if you’re still a bit confused, or want to confirm your suspicions you can watch the trailer directly below.
Battleship is described as an epic-scaled action-adventure that unfolds across the seas, in the skies and over land as our planet fights for survival against a superior force. Taylor Kitsch stars as Lt. Alex Hopper, a Naval officer assigned to the USS John Paul Jones; Brooklyn Decker as Sam Shane, a physical therapist and Hopper’s fiancee; Alexander Skarsgard as Hopper’s older brother, Stone, Commanding Officer of the USS Sampson; Rihanna as Petty Officer Raikes, Hopper’s crewmate and a weapons specialist on the USS John Paul Jones; and Liam Neeson as Hopper and Stone’s superior (and Sam’s father), Admiral Shane.
I already watched the first incoherent trailer so I think I’ll sit this one out, but please feel free to have at it and comment below. Also, if you want to check out that new poster and my gallery of 19 images from the film click here and enjoy.
Battleship hits theaters on May 18, 2012.
