First Official Look at Mel Gibson and Jodie Foster’s ‘The Beaver’

Today Summit released the first official look at The Beaver, a film that was originally believed to be a potential Oscar contender, but following star Mel Gibson’s rants and tirades the film was briefly shelved. However, the trailer will now debut tomorrow, December 3, with an anticipated Spring 2011 release date.

Jodie Foster directed the pic and along with the above image we get the following official synopsis:

Two-time Academy Award winner Jodie Foster directs and co-stars with two-time Academy Award winner Mel Gibson in The Beaver — an emotional story about a man on a journey to re-discover his family and re-start his life.

Plagued by his own demons, Walter Black was once a successful toy executive and family man who now suffers from depression. No matter what he tries, Walter can’t seem to get himself back on track… until a beaver hand puppet enters his life.

You can click here for a full-sized look at the cropped image above and stay tuned tomorrow night when I’ll be uploading the trailer for you to watch. The film co-stars Anton Yelchin, Jennifer Lawrence and Cherry Jones.

I guess this couldn’t come at a better time following my Do the Politics and Behavior of Actors Affect How You View Them On-Screen? editorial. Care to add any thoughts on whether or not you plan on seeing this one?
