Paramount just released a trio of TV spots from True Grit as well as sent over hi-res versions of the character banners that were featured a few weeks ago.
True Grit is directed by Joel and Ethan Coen (No Country for Old Men) and stars Jeff Bridges as the trigger-happy, drunken U.S. Marshal, Rooster Cogburn, a role that won John Wayne his only acting Oscar back in 1970. However, it’s been said the Coens’ film is more of an adaptation of the original Charles Portis novel than a remake of the 1969 film that used the same source material.
The film centers on the story of 14-year-old Mattie Ross (Hailee Steinfeld) who hires Cogburn to hunt down her father’s killer, Tom Chaney (Josh Brolin). Also hunting Chaney is a Texas Ranger named LeBoeuf (Matt Damon) who hopes to catch him and bring him back to Texas for the murder of another man.
Paramount is set to release the film on December 22.
