UPDATED: ‘Rambo 5’ Story Details Different than Originally Reported

UPDATE: Ain’t It Cool News now delivers what is described as the official synopsis for Rambo V: The Savage Hunt. Here is what is reportedly being faxed around:

John Rambo (Stallone) could track anyone – or anything – on earth. Now the military desperately needs him for a mission that his ultra-sensitive instincts tell him he should refuse. A beast is loose somewhere north of the Arctic Circle. It has already decimated a secret research facility and annihilated a squad of elite military guards. And the raging creature is headed south toward civilization, ready to wreak bloody devastation.

It’s a job that Rambo and his 22-year-old hunting partner, Beau Brady, can’t turn down, but they and a highly skilled special forces team discover the prey is a terror beyond their wildest imagination, a half-human abomination created by a renegade agency through a series of outlawed genetic experiments. It has man’s cunning, a predator’s savageness and a prehistoric power that has transcended the ages. And even if Rambo and Beau survive its unrelenting hunger for human blood, they’ll still have to confront the grim reality that it may have grown immortal.

The original article follows.

Ain’t It Cool News always seems to be the place for anything Sylvester Stallone related and the site has received updated details on the previously announced Rambo 5 feature differing from the earlier reported storyline.

Harry at AICN tells us Rambo 5 takes John Rambo (Stallone) back to where it all began in the Pacific Northwest where a U.S. Military installation is doing experiments on elite soldiers as part of a program attempting to tap into the savagery deeply embedded in us all. The experiment to create the perfect killer goes exceptionally well, and then exceptionally wrong and Rambo is brought in to hunt, capture or kill this worse than Rambo killer.

This is much different from the earlier reported story, which was said to revolve around Rambo fighting his way through human traffickers and drug lords to rescue a young girl abducted near the U.S.-Mexico border.

The image you see included here is an early one-sheet the production will be using at the Toronto Film Festival, and you can get a larger version over at Ain’t It Cool News. I have a feeling the “The Savage Hunt” tagline will be changing considering the several title changes last year’s Rambo went through including Rambo 4, John Rambo and Rambo IV: Pearl of the Cobra just to name a few.
