Now I am not saying Gavin Hood is not capable of directing the X-Men franchise spin-off Wolverine for 20th Century Fox, I am just saying I am surprised in their choice as it never would have occurred to me they would be considering Hood who recently helmed that Academy Award winning director of the 2005 foreign film Tsotsi.
The David Benioff penned flick begins production in November for 2008 release. The spin-off will be using several resources that include the Marvel Comics lore, along with the more recent Weapon X graphic novels by Frank Miller. Wolverine mixes action with an origin story about how Logan emerged from a barbaric experiment as an indestructible mutant with retractable razor-sharp claws.
Hugh Jackman will once again play the title character he played in all three X-Men features, which to date have grossed over $1 billion worldwide.
