ELTON JOHN’S GNOMEO & JULIET
I think this story was circulating around a while back but since I didn’t report it I am now as Walt Disney Studios’ Miramax Films has struck a deal with Elton John’s Rocket Pictures to develop and produce Gnomeo & Juliet.

The film is a computer-animated musical based on William Shakespeare’s tragic romance. It was originally set up at Disney’s animation wing, but in lieu of the Pixar deal production was halted.

“I am very excited about working with Miramax,” John told THR, ” ‘Gnomeo’ is an edgy concept, and Miramax is the perfect home to push the envelope in animation.”

MACY IS ONE OF THE WILD HOGS
UNIVERSAL IS IN THE HUNT
Lucas Sussman made a pitch for The Hunt and Universal jumped on it. The studio paid mid- against high-six figures for the horror thriller for Darren Aronofsky and Eric Watson to produce.

The story centers on the world’s greatest hunter, who sets out to capture the ultimate beast: the devil himself.

Sounds good to me.
