Scorsese Enjoys the ‘Silence’

No, this isn’t going to be the Depeche Mode biopic all you fans of the 80s have been dying for, this is Martin Scorsese‘s next film, what Variety is describing as his “passion project”.

Apparently the film Silence, set in Japan and based on a Japanese novel by Shusaku Endo is the martyrdom-themed tale of two 17th century Portuguese missionaries who return to Japan to minister to Christians, who’ve been outlawed.

The film isn’t 100 percent as of right now, but Scorsese did say at a press conference, “I hope it comes together. I’ve been trying to make the movie for 10 years.”

Scorsese was at teh festival previewing his Bob Dylan biopic, No Direction Home: Bob Dylan.
