Indiana Jones Reaches $482.8 Million Worldwide

Following this morning’s domestic figures, we now have the international estimates for the weekend and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull added an impressive $71.5 million from 8,439 theaters in 60 international markets this weekend to push its overseas total to $266 million. Combined with its $216.8 million domestic total, the film is up to $482.8 million worldwide.

“Crystal Skull” should easily top the $297 million international total for 1989’s Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. It looks likely to become the 29th film to hit the $400 million mark in foreign sales. It’s already the top 2008 grosser oversas and pushed the combined international take of the four “Indiana Jones” pics past $850 million.

New Line’s Sex and the City opened internationally to $39.2 million from 3,537 theaters in 13 markets. With its domestic total of $55.7 million, the big screen adaptation has collected $94.9 million already.

Disney’s The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian stayed strong overseas with $16.8 million at 4,500 theaters in 19 markets.

Fox’s What Happens in Vegas added another $12.1 million at 3,900 theaters in 61 markets. It has reached $95.4 million internationally, nearly $30 million ahead of the domestic total.

Iron Man earned $8 million from 5,000 theaters to push its foreign total to $243 million. Combined with its $276.6 million domestic total, the comic book adaptation has reached $520 million worldwide to rank 52nd on that list.
