Obsession Director’s Father Teams up With Oscar Nominee for New Horror Project

Obsession director Curry Barker‘s father, Jeff Barker, is working on his own horror project with Oscar nominee Lesley Ann Warren. Jeff has previously served as a script consultant on his son Curry’s blockbuster project, Obsession, which turned out to be one of the highest-grossing movies of the year, earning over $427 million at the box office on a tiny $750,000 budget.

Curry Barker’s father Jeff to write and direct new horror short

Jeff Barker, the father of Obsession director Curry Barker, is teaming up with Oscar-nominated actress Lesley Ann Warren on a new horror project. According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, Jeff is writing and directing a new horror short film titled Medium Rare. Apart from Warren, Dane Cook will also feature in the film. Talking about the film, Jeff said in a statement to the outlet, “Medium Rare is a short story I wrote eight years ago. I’m honored by the team of people helping me bring this project to life.” Cook will star in the short film.

The short film is produced by Mammoth Pictures, which announced the collaboration on Instagram. They wrote, “Thrilled to be producing Medium Rare, a film from @jbark27, script consultant of the record-breaking “Obsession”, an incredible artist in his own right, along with Jacob and Mehrdod at @LDEntertainment and @LeeRoyKunz, starring the legendary @DaneCook and Oscar Nominee Leslie Ann Warren.”

Cook also commented under the post and shared his excitement about the project. He added, “We’ve got a tiger by the tail. But the owl is watching.”

Much about the project is still unknown, as it is in the early stages of development. However, the outlet shared a brief about the short film, stating that it focuses on a man who gets trapped inside a bar, where reality begins to unravel in increasingly disturbing ways. Production is expected to begin in Los Angeles later this summer.
