New Doomsday Art Reveals Avengers’ Line-up Against Doctor Doom, X-Men Suits & More

A former Marvel Studios art chief has given fans their clearest look yet at Avengers: Doomsday. Andy Park, laid off in a recent round of cuts, posted a massive character illustration featuring Doctor Doom, X-Men, and more. This came months ahead of the film’s December 18 debut.

Park led visual development on the Phase Six film before his exit. He described the painting as his final full project at the studio. “Avengers: Doomsday was the final full film I had the opportunity to lead as Director of Visual Development at Marvel Studios,” he wrote. “It was truly an honor, and I was grateful to commemorate that journey with this marketing illustration which officially reveals, for the first time, the characters and their looks in the film.”

The Avengers: Doomsday artwork shows Robert Downey Jr.’s Victor Von Doom high above a sprawling assembly of heroes. Below him, the composition splits the protagonists into clear groups. The Fantastic Four occupy one section, their blue-and-white suits matching the aesthetic from their latest solo film. The X-Men stand together in a separate cluster, sporting darker, tactical costumes. Sam Wilson’s Avengers unit, the New Avengers squad, Thor, Ant-Man, and Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers fill out the rest of the battlefield.

Moreover, fans received their first official glimpse of several legacy X-Men actors in their Doomsday attire. Alan Cumming’s Nightcrawler, Kelsey Grammer’s Beast, and Rebecca Romijn’s Mystique can be seen. James Marsden’s Cyclops, Ian McKellen’s Magneto, Patrick Stewart’s Professor X, and Channing Tatum’s Gambit round out the mutant contingent. None of these characters had featured in official promotional material before Park’s post.

Furthermore, Tom Hiddleston’s Loki sits at the heart of the composition. Positioned beneath Doctor Doom, the God of Stories appears to be holding the fabric of the multiverse together, a direct continuation of his arc from the Loki series finale.

Park ended his post on a reflective note. “These pieces represent more than the story or the characters in the film. For me, they also capture my own journey through the whole production—the challenges, the victories, the teamwork, the relationships, and all the fun we had bringing it to life. Part of the journey is the end… and what a journey it has been.”
