A new Doctor Who teaser trailer features Christopher Eccleston alongside a familiar companion. Eccleston last played the Ninth Doctor over two decades ago, before parting ways with the BBC.
The official description reads, “A long-lost ship, the Vesterbold, has returned to normal space. And the Knights of Atlas seek her treasure. But two strangers have joined their expedition – the Doctor and Rose, who warn of danger. For the Vesterbold has drifted free of the Dark Tides at the edge of the universe. And she may have brought something back with her. Not even the bravest knights are ready for the evil which lies inside…”

What do we see in the new Doctor Who trailer?
In 2020, Christopher Eccleston reunited with Doctor Who through Big Finish’s officially licensed audio dramas after years away from the franchise. The project was an audio series that also brought back Billie Piper. She played Eccleston’s companion, Rose Tyler, in the 2005 revival of Doctor Who.
Now, they are reprising their iconic roles in a new Big Finish audio drama, The Ninth Doctor Adventures: Dark Tides. A new teaser trailer has been released, showing Eccleston and Piper heading into deep space. The duo will be seen teaming up with the Knights of Atlas, who are on the trail of the long-lost Vesterbold, a mapping ship that ventured too far beyond known space.
Speaking more of The Ninth Doctor Adventures: Dark Tides, it’s scripted by Tim Foley. Besides Eccleston and Piper, the audio series will also feature guest stars such as BAFTA-winning actress Doon Makicha (Smack the Pony, Good Omens, and Toast of London). She will appear in the role of Dr. Vivian Rest, a mysterious survivor found aboard the Vesterbold.
Other guest actors include Ben Arogundade, who plays the knights’ leader, Sir Cal. Sam Stafford and David Shaw-Parker will also appear in brief roles.
