Netflix has unveiled the first teaser trailer for Sakamoto Days Season 2. The hit anime is an adaptation of Yuto Suzuki’s namesake manga series. The inaugural season was split into two cours or parts, with the first one releasing on January 11, 2025, in Japan, and Netflix simultaneously streaming it internationally. The second cour subsequently debuted on July 15, following an advanced screening in June.
Taro and Shin return in first Sakamoto Days Season 2 teaser trailer
The teaser trailer for the sophomore season of the popular anime unveils that Taro Sakamoto, Shin Asakura, and the rest of the gang are back for new adventures.
Netflix revealed the footage at the ongoing Annecy International Animation Film Festival, with a teaser trailer subsequently premiering on YouTube. It indicates that Taro and his allies are after an individual named Slur, the killer of killers, this season. This prompts the group to infiltrate the JCC Assassin Training Academy for more information.
As is the norm with this anime, the new adventure will have its share of action, comedy, and absurdity. This includes Taro quite adequately disguising himself as a female student of the academy.
Additionally, the first season of the series adapted the Amusement Park Arc, Lab Arc, Death Row Prisoners Arc, JCC Transfer Exams Arc, and the beginning of the JCC Infiltration Arc across its two cours. Moreover, as the trailer implies, Season 2 will adapt the rest of the JCC Infiltration Arc.
Notably, the Japanese voice cast of Sakamoto Days includes Tomokazu Sugita as Taro Sakamoto, Nobunaga Shimazaki as Shin Asakura, Ayane Sakura as Lu Xiaotang, Nao Tōyama as Aoi Sakamoto, Hina Kino as Hana Sakamoto, and Ryōta Suzuki as Heisuke Mashimo.
At the above-mentioned festival, Yuji Yamano, Netflix’s director of content in Japan, called the anime a “global social phenomenon,” before assuring the fans that Season 2 episodes will have “significantly evolved quality and further enhanced action” (via What’s on Netflix).
Meanwhile, Sakamoto Days Season 2 premieres on Netflix in January 2027.
