Lupin just dropped a major release date update, and fans aren’t ready for what’s coming next. Netflix confirms new details about the beloved French thriller’s highly anticipated return.
Netflix reveals new details about Lupin Part 4’s return
Lupin Part 4 will premiere on October 23, as announced by Netflix on X. Alongside the announcement, the streaming giant also revealed a new poster for the upcoming season. As a result, fans finally have a concrete return date after a three-year gap since Part 3.
Lupin follows Assane Diop, a master thief inspired by the classic literary character Arsène Lupin. Notably, the fictional gentleman thief was created by author Maurice Leblanc in 1905. George Kay then created the Netflix adaptation in collaboration with François Uzan. Since its debut, the show quickly became one of Netflix’s most-watched non-English language series of all time.
Meanwhile, Omar Sy will reprise his role as Diop in the eight-episode season. Ludivine Sagnier, Antoine Gouy, and Soufiane Guerrab also return for the new installment. Additionally, Shirine Boutella, Théo Christine, and Laïka Blanc-Francard round out the cast. Marie Roussin, Florent Meyer, and Tigran Rosine also participated in the series’ creation. Season 1 launched in 2021 and became the first French series in Netflix’s U.S. top 10. Over 76 million households watched the debut season globally.
Beyond its thrilling heists, the series tackles themes of racism and class bias against immigrants through Diop’s story. His father died in jail after authorities wrongfully accused him of a crime. As a result, Lupin took home a Critics’ Choice Award for Best Foreign Language Series and earned Emmy nominations. The show also secured Golden Globe nominations for its compelling storytelling and performances.
Part 3 left viewers with major cliffhangers after enemies betrayed Assane and authorities imprisoned him following his latest heist. Consequently, the shocking finale sparked widespread debate about the show’s future among fans.
At this stage, it remains unclear whether Part 4 will serve as the final season.
