Carolina Caroline gets digital release date
Magnolia Pictures has set Carolina Caroline for a digital and VOD release on June 23, 2026 ( via When to Stream). The crime thriller first premiered at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival before opening in U.S. theaters on June 5, 2026.
Directed by Adam Carter Rehmeier, who previously helmed Snack Shack, the film was written by Tom Dean and centers on a romance that quickly spirals into a dangerous crime spree. The movie runs under two hours and blends romance, crime, and road-trip drama.
Samara Weaving stars as Caroline, a young woman stuck in a quiet small-town life while taking care of her father. Things change when she crosses paths with a charismatic con man played by Kyle Gallner. What begins as curiosity soon turns into romance, and the pair hits the road together, hustling strangers and robbing banks as they travel through the South. Kyra Sedgwick and Jon Gries are among the film’s supporting cast, alongside Sonny Burnette, P.J. Sosko, Tommy G. Kendrick, and David Schifter.
Rather than focusing on the crimes first, the movie puts its central relationship at the heart of the story. Critics have responded positively. On Rotten Tomatoes, Carolina Caroline currently holds a 93% critics’ score from its initial review count. IMDb users have also rated it 7.2/10, suggesting strong early audience reception. Critics have praised the chemistry between Weaving and Gallner, with many highlighting their performances as the film’s biggest strength.
A big reason people are excited about this movie is the cast. Samara Weaving has become one of the fan-favorites in the horror and thriller world thanks to movies like Ready or Not, The Babysitter, Scream VI, and Azrael. Meanwhile, Kyle Gallner has built his own cult following with standout performances in Strange Darling, Smile, and Dinner in America.
