SNL Creator’s New Movie Streams Today on Peacock

Focus Features‘ 2026 documentary movie about Saturday Night Live creator Lorne Michaels has finally found a streaming home. Starting today, Morgan Neville’s latest docufilm, Lorne, is officially available to stream on Peacock.

What do we know about SNL creator Lorne Michaels’ new movie?

Lorne hails from acclaimed filmmaker Morgan Neville, who also served as a producer alongside Lauren Belfer. He’s best known for his works on the Academy Award-winning 2014 movie 20 Feet from Stardom, 2018’s Won’t You Be My Neighbor?, and 2021’s Roadrunner: A Film About Anthony Bourdain. The documentary features exclusive footage, archival treasures, and candid interviews with the show’s most iconic cast members and writers, including Tina Fey, Maya Rudolph, John Mulaney, Andy Samberg, Bill Hader, Adam Sandler, Conan O’Brien, Chris Rock, Chevy Chase, Jimmy Fallon, and more.

“The documentary movie is an unprecedented, behind-the-scenes glimpse at the man who built the inimitable empire of comedy, shaping television and culture for generations,” reads the official synopsis.

The movie was narrated by former SNL cast member Chris Parnell, with Caitrin Rogers serving as an executive producer. It also featured behind-the-scenes footage of episodes hosted by A-list stars Timothée Chalamet, Emma Stone, and Ryan Gosling. Since its debut last April 17, the documentary has received a 72% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, while its Popcornmeter score is significantly higher at 93%. The film has a runtime of 1 hour and 41 minutes. The creative team consisted of cinematographer Graham Willoughby, composer Darian Sahanaja, editor Alan Lowe, and editor Jake Hostetter.
