Keith David, the iconic voice behind the character, has confirmed when audiences can expect to see President Curtis return to their screens.
President Curtis spin-off to get a 2026 release date
Keith David has revealed that the President Curtis spin-off is slated for release “later on this year.” This is the first concrete update on the show’s timeline since its initial announcement at San Diego Comic-Con in 2025, where Adult Swim officially greenlit the project (via Screenrant).
David, a three-time Emmy winner who first joined the Rick and Morty universe in season 2’s iconic “Get Schwifty” episode, assured fans that the character they love hasn’t changed. According to David, Curtis “is still the same President that left you” on the main series, suggesting the spin-off will maintain the tonal balance fans have come to expect from the franchise.
The series has been co-created by Rick and Morty mastermind Dan Harmon and James Siciliano, who began as a writer’s assistant on the original show during season 3 before working his way up to executive producer and writer. David will be joined by fellow Community veteran Jim Rash and Hazbin Hotel star Stephanie Beatriz.
The premise follows the eponymous President as he tackles calamities that Rick and Morty themselves choose to ignore, offering a fresh perspective on the sci-fi comedy’s universe. Moreover, President Curtis becomes the third spin-off attempt from the franchise, following the 10-episode Vindicators 2 in 2022 and the anime adaptation that was released in late 2024. Neither of those previous efforts received a Season 2.
