The Dear X finale has arrived, bringing the intense K-drama to a different conclusion than the original webtoon. As Baek Ah-jin’s facade collapses under her husband Moon Do-hyeok’s pressure, fans were left guessing everyone’s fate. The final episode raises the stakes and answers the big question of who dies, delivering not one but two deaths in a shocking ending.

Who dies in Dear X finale’s ending?
With the series deviating from the source material, the finale delivered deadly consequences that surprised many fans. Ultimately, both Yoon Jun-seo and Kim Jae-oh die in Dear X Episode 12.
In the finale, Jae-oh makes the ultimate sacrifice. He secretly sets up cameras and spyware with help from Do-kang. He leads Moon Do-hyeok’s henchmen to the rooftop, making sure a video captures that Do-hyeok was the one who ordered his death.
Jae-oh is then pushed to his death, a sacrifice he planned so Ah-jin could finally gain power over her manipulative husband. The footage lets Ah-jin turn the tables on Do-hyeok. After that, her career skyrockets again with the success of her film Amen to Nothing.
Upon receiving the files regarding Jae-oh’s death, Jun-seo finally realizes Ah-jin will never change. He asks her, “How long are you going to keep living like this?” but is met with a cold refusal to stop. Consequently, Jun-seo helps release a documentary exposing Ah-jin’s manipulation and crimes right as she accepts a Best Actress award at Blue Dragon Awards.
But Ah-jin flees the ceremony in a panic. Jun-seo finds her and drives her away. He decides to end it all. He drives the car off a cliff so they can “just go to hell together.” It is believed that both of them were killed in the crash.
However, the show reveals one last twist: Ah-jin survives. A flashback shows her climbing out of the wrecked car. She looks down at the dying Jun-seo, laughs cruelly, and disappears to hide instead of saving him.
