Critics praise Hwang Dong-hyuk’s vision in Squid Game Season 3 reviews
The critical consensus about Squid Game Season 3 is considerably positive. TV Insider’s Matt Roush observed that even though the “novelty” of the series had “largely worn off,” writer-director Hwang Dong-hyuk succeeded in conjuring “a fair amount of suspense as the net tightens around the game” just as the finish line came into sight.
Meghan O’Keefe of Decider noted that the third season was “messy, magnificent, and a fitting conclusion to the sensational story that started back in 2021.”
According to TheWrap’s William Goodman, the third season proved that the show was still able to render “a tragically compelling story that manages to entertain and have you emotionally invested in its characters.”
Rebecca Nicholson of The Guardian wrote that Squid Game not only did “its job” but also left the impression that “it has become a more traditional action-thriller than it once was. As to where it will go next, all bets are off.”
Squid Game Season 3 starts off with great Rotten Tomatoes score
Squid Game Season 3 currently has a 90% approval rating on the review aggregating site Rotten Tomatoes after 21 reviews. This number will most likely change as more critics watch the final season and their reviews come in. However, as things now stand, Squid Game Season 3 has a better Rotten Tomatoes score than Season 2 (83%), though it is not as good as the inaugural season (95%).
All three seasons of Squid Game are available on Netflix for streaming.
