Dimension and Ice Cube Have Tough Love

Dimension Films has preemptively purchased Tough Love a comedy pitch from writers Matt Allen and Caleb Wilson. Ice Cube is attached to star and Thomas Carter, who recently directed Coach Carter for Paramount Pictures, will direct. The story, inspired by the life of former New England Patriot Tebucky Jones (Ice Cube), centers around a tough as nails NFL player who realizes that his kids have become spoiled brats. In an effort to toughen them up, he forces them to spend their summer in the mean streets of Oakland where he grew up. Along the way, he’s met with the realization that he may also have some things to learn.

Tough Love will be produced by Cube Vision’s Ice Cube and Matt Alvarez in addition to H2F Entertainment’s Walter Hamada and Chris Fenton as well as Thomas Carter. Life rights were initially optioned by Jonathan Bogner who is also set to produce. Ice Cube is currently in pre-production on First Sunday for Screen Gems and his Are We Done Yet? hits theaters, Wednesday, April 4th. Ice Cube is managed by the Firm, William Morris Agency and attorney Matt Johnson. Thomas Carter is represented by CAA. Allen & Wilson recently completed Four Christmases for New Line and director Vicky Jensen.

Dimension Films is also developing a feature film based on the hugely popular and entertaining classic television show Welcome Back, Kotter with Ice Cube attached to star in the title role. Ice Cube and Matt Alvarez will produce the project through their production company, Cube Vision, along with Andrew Lazar.
