Aadujeevitham: Everything You Need To Know about Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Movie

Prithviraj Sukumaran’s latest survival drama, Aadujeevitham, has finally hit the big screens, garnering a widespread positive response from the audience. Furthermore, the advance booking collection indicates a profitable opening day. The movie took around 15-16 years of hard work to complete, and filmmakers shot most of its parts in deserts to put realism in film. As a result, fans are eagerly waiting to witness the story.

Before watching the movie, here are some shocking things you need to know.

Aadujeevitham release date, plot, cast, runtime & more

Aadujeevitham made its theatrical debut on March 28, 2024, featuring Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead role. Alongside Prithviraj, the film stars Amala Paul, Jimmy Jean-Louis, Shobha Mohan, and others. Director Blessy drew inspiration from the novel of the same name written by the novelist Benyamin. According to IMDb, the movie has a runtime of 2 hours and 41 minutes. For those unaware, Aadujeevitham is based on the true story of Najeeb, a Malayali migrant worker.

During an interview with Gulte, Prithviraj revealed some insights about the film. While discussing the plot, he said, “This is the story of a man who has to spend time in the desert for 3.5 years, and in the final stages of Najeeb’s desert life, he started to move away from human existence. It’s now tough for him to speak to humans, he can’t even phrase lines with multiple words as he adapted to more animals (Goats) than humans now. Haven’t seen or heard any other survival story like this, that’s the reason I’ve picked up Aadu Jeevitham.”

In addition, Prithviraj disclosed that he lost around 31 kgs for the role of Najeeb. Surprisingly, he used to fast for up to 72 hours and only drank water and black coffee. Regarding the physical transformation, he explained, “Losing weight or putting weight for this film is part of the screenplay but not to induce shock value as we do for commercial films where we flaunt our six-pack. When the film reaches the moment where I take off my shirt, surely it is not to induce shocker but explain what the character Najeeb went through for years and what that did to his body.”

Prithviraj’s upcoming movie OTT release date, platform & more

As the movie has commenced its theatrical run, fans are eagerly anticipating its OTT release. Recent reports have confirmed that Disney Plus Hotstar has acquired the movie’s post-theatrical streaming rights. However, it is important to note that official confirmation is still awaited. Additionally, it has been confirmed that Mythri Movie Makers will handle the Telugu version’s release.

Regarding its advance booking collection, according to Times of India, Aadujeevitham has minted over $319K, with 165,723 tickets already sold just in Kerala. This record-setting performance makes it one of the biggest advance bookings for a Malayalam film. Moreover, according to the trade website Sacnilk, Aadujeevitham is expected to earn $229K in India’s net collection. However, these numbers are subject to change by the end of the day.

Following its theatrical release, Prithviraj is now gearing up for his upcoming release, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, the film is slated to hit the screens on April 10, 2024.
