Forgive and Forget: Ty Burrell to Star in New ABC Sitcom

Modern Family and Emmy-winning actor Ty Burrell is confirmed to be returning to ABC with a new sitcom titled Forgive and Forget. The multi-camera comedy has landed a pilot order on the alphabet network.

The actor will be playing Hank in Forgive and Forget, a character described as “the perennial life of the party who, after a sudden diagnosis, decides to reconnect with his responsible son Ben in order to create new memories.”

In addition to playing a lead role, Burrell will also executive produce the series — through his Desert Whale Productions banner — alongside Robin Shorr (Diary of a Future President), who is on board as the sitcom’s showrunner. On the other hand, Eugene Garcia-Cross (The Santa Clauses) will serve as the show’s writer and the additional executive producer.

Forgive and Forget is produced by Disney’s 20th Television, the same company that brought the hit sitcom Modern Family, in which Burrell starred as Phil Dunphy for 11 seasons across 250 episodes. The role has also earned Burrell a total of eight Emmy nominations and two wins.

All eleven seasons of Modern Family are available to stream on Disney+

Burrell’s other acting credits include Evolution, Dawn of the Dead, Friends with Money, Out of Practice, The Incredible Hulk, Back to You, Morning Glory, The Skeleton Twins, and Rough Night. The actor also lent his voice to a slew of animated projects, including Finding Dory, Mr. Peabody & Sherman, Storks, The Super Hero Squad Show, and Duncanville.

Forgive and Forget is ABC’s second pilot order this year

Earlier this month, the network also announced that Last Man Standing actor Tim Allen will be returning for a new sitcom, Shifting Gears. The actor will also executive produce the planned project, which also hails from 20th Television.
