Becoming Karl Lagerfeld Trailer: Daniel Brühl Leads Disney+ Biopic Series

The official Becoming Karl Lagerfeld trailer for Disney+ and Hulu’s upcoming French biographical drama series has been released, starring Captain America: Civil War star Daniel Brühl as the late legendary fashion designer. The six-episode series is scheduled to make its debut on June 7, 2024 on Hulu in the U.S. and on Disney+ internationally.

“In 1972, Karl Lagerfeld is 38 and not yet wearing his iconic hairstyle. He is a ready-to-wear designer, unknown to the general public. While he meets and falls in love with the sultry Jacques de Bascher, an ambitious and troubling young dandy, the most mysterious of fashion designers dares to take on his friend (and rival) Yves Saint Laurent, a genius of haute couture backed by the redoubtable businessman Pierre Bergé,” reads the official synopsis.

“Becoming Karl Lagerfeld plunges us into the heart of the 70s, in Paris, Monaco and Rome, to follow the formidable blossoming of this complex and iconic personality of Parisian couture, already driven by the ambition to become the Emperor of fashion. Who’s involved in Becoming Karl Lagerfeld?

Becoming Karl Lagerfeld is created by Isaure Pisani-Ferry, Jennifer Have and Raphaëlle Bacqué, based on the latter’s bestselling book Kaiser Karl. Pisani-Ferry is also co-writing the series alongside Dominique Baumard, Jennifer Have, and Nathalie Hertzberg. It is directed by Jérôme Salle and Audrey Estrougo, with Salle executive producing the project alongside Arnaud de Crémiers. The TV adaptation will feature music by Evgueni and Sacha Galperine.

The ensemble cast is consists of Théodore Pellerin as Jacques de Bascher, Arnaud Valois as Yves Saint Laurent, Alex Lutz as Pierre Bergé, Agnès Jaoui as Gabrielle Aghion, Jeanne Damas as Paloma Picasso, Claire Laffut as Loulou de la Falaise, Sunnyi Melles, Paul Spera as Andy Warhol, and Lisa Kreuzer as Elisabeth Lagerfeld.
