Uncharted 2: Mark Wahlberg Gives Optimistic Update on Sequel, Says Script Is In

Mark Wahlberg says that he’s been told to start growing a mustache for Uncharted 2.

Speaking with ScreenRant, Wahlberg provided an update about the upcoming sequel to 2022’s Uncharted. While he didn’t divulge much about the plot, he did note that the script is now in and that he’s been told to start growing a mustache.

“Actually, I just got a call today that they got the script in,” Wahlberg said. “I can’t grow a real beard and mustache, but they said, ‘Start growing your mustache. It’s gonna take awhile.’ I’d be interested to see what the story’s like, and where that adventure takes us. But I’m excited; I know audiences really loved the first one, so we’ll see.”

What else do we know about Uncharted 2?

Wahlberg confirmed that a script for Uncharted 2 was being written when speaking with The Direct in December 2023.

He said at the time, “I’ve heard lots of different ideas. I know somebody’s written a script, and they’re still working on it, and it would consist of having the mustache the whole entire time. Which completely makes sense; obviously, in that final scene, I have the mustache.”

The first Uncharted movie hit United States theaters in February 2022. Wahlberg played Sully Sullivan in the movie, while it also starred Tom Holland as Nathan Drake, Antonio Banderas as Santiago Moncada, Sophia Ali as Chloe Frazer, Tati Gabrielle as Jo Braddock, and Rudy Pankow as Sam Drake.

Based on the popular Naughty Dog video game, Uncharted made approximately $407.1 million at the global box office off an estimated $120 million budget. Ruben Fleischer directed the film.

There’s been no word yet on who will direct the upcoming Uncharted sequel or if the rest of the cast will also return.

Uncharted 2 does not yet have a release date. Uncharted, meanwhile, is currently streaming on Hulu.
