Who Is Ted Bundy’s Daughter Rose and Where Is She Now?

Ted Bundy, one of the most notorious serial killers in US history, terrorized the nation and committed more than 30 murders between 1974 and 1978. The police apprehended Bundy for the first time in 1975, but he continued to commit more crimes after escaping the police. His crimes earned him a place on the list of one of the most dangerous serial killers in history.

The police arrested Ted Bundy in August 1975 and charged him with attempted criminal assault and aggravated kidnapping, as per ABC News. The outlet also mentioned that the accused spent time in Salt Lake County jail before the trial. The jury found Bundy guilty and sentenced to prison. Meanwhile, in February 1976, Bundy was charged with murder of another woman. He pleaded not guilty and escaped from prison. However, in 1978, the authorities captured him again and sent him to jail.

Despite being notorious for brutal and horrifying killings, several reports suggest that Ted Bundy had girlfriends and went on to marry a woman named Carol Ann Boone. But that’s not all. Boone gave birth to Bundy’s daughter, Rose, in 1982 while he was incarcerated. Rose never came into the spotlight and didn’t talk to the media about her father. Moreover, her current whereabouts are unknown.

Ted Bundy conceived a daughter while on death row

As mentioned above, Carole Ann Boone gave birth to Rose Bundy in 1982. According to The Sun, Boone met Ted Bundy while working at the Department of Emergency Services (DES) in Olympia, Washington. Citing the book The Only Living Witness: The True Story of Serial Sex Killer Ted Bundy, Oxygen reported that Boone “liked” Ted immediately.

She said, “I liked Ted immediately. We hit it off well. He struck me as being a rather shy person with a lot more going on under the surface than what was on the surface. He certainly was more dignified and restrained than the more certifiable types around the office. He would participate in the silliness partway.”

Boone was madly in love with Bundy and allegedly helped him escape from prison in 1977, according to Rolling Stone. Three years later, in 1980, the duo married during Bundy’s trial. The Sun reported that the couple took advantage of a Florida law that, at the time, said that any marriage that takes place in front of a judge is deemed legal. So, the couple had an impromptu ceremony in front of the judge and jurors.

The aforementioned outlet cited Ann Rule’s biography of Ted Bundy, titled The Stranger Beside Me, and revealed that the couple met each other even when conjugal visits were prohibited. Meanwhile, Newsweek reported Boone and Bundy were able to get physically intimate while visiting him in prison.

Citing the documentary, Newsweek also stated that the guards did walk in on them but didn’t stop them. In 1982, Boone finally gave birth to Rose. However, she divorced Ted Bundy in 1986 after his shocking confessions to his crimes. In January 1989, the authorities executed Ted Bundy via electric chair.

In 2019, the aforementioned publication shared a quote from the revised version of the book The Stranger Beside Me, giving an update on Rose Bundy. The quote said, “I have heard that Ted’s daughter is a kind and intelligent young woman but I have no idea where she and her mother may live.”

Ted Bundy has been the subject of several documentaries and feature films. All those titles are available to stream on platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and more.
