New Founders Day Image Highlights the Cast of the Upcoming Political Slasher

As the Bloomquist Brothers prepare their return with the new slasher flick Founders Day, Dark Sky Films (via Collider) has shared a new image showing the individuals that will round out the cast of the upcoming political slasher. Founders Day will hit cinemas on January 19, 2024.

Directed and written by Erik Bloomquist, with Carson Bloomquist serving as the film’s co-writer, the political satire will revolve around a series of killings during an impending mayoral election — including one of the candidate’s children. Against an American flag backdrop, the new image features the cast and the potential masked killer among them.

“In this bold political slasher, a small town is shaken by a series of ominous killings in the days leading up to a heated mayoral election. As accusations fly and the threat of a masked killer darkens every street corner, the residents must race to uncover the truth before fear consumes the town,” the film’s official synopsis reads.

The Founders Day cast

Founders Day stars 13 Reasons Why cast members Devin Druid and Amy Hargreaves, with Hargreaves portraying incumbent Mayor Blair Gladwell. The rest of the cast includes Emilia McCarthy, Catherine Curtin, William Russ, Naomi Grace, Olivia Nikkanen, Jayce Bartok, Andrew Stewart Jones, Tyler James White, Adam Weppler, Kate Edmonds, Dylan Slade, and Arun Cameron Storrs.

Founders Day promises a bloody cinematic experience

The upcoming slasher has previously received an official “R” rating from the Motion Picture Association due to its “strong bloody violence, language, and some sexual references.”

According to a joint statement from the Bloomquist brothers, Founders Day is a violent feature that perfectly captures the fury of modern politics.

“As the chaos of modern politics rages, The Founder is primed and ready to be unleashed on American audiences,” the statement reads. “With whodunnit slashers serving as our entry point into the genre, we are elated to bring our own mischief-laden, blood-soaked mystery to life,” said the Bloomquist brothers. “Founders Day is a slasher for the world we are living in right now, and we can’t wait for the speculation on who’s behind the mask to begin.”

Founders Day premieres on January 19, 2024.
